Title: Integrated Hydrologic Ensemble Forecast Evaluation System
Presentation Type: Poster
Abstract: The hydrologic ensemble forecast is increasingly utilized to address uncertainties in hydrologic predictions, such as being used as input for forecast-informed reservoir operations. In New York City, the Hydrologic Ensemble Forecast System (HEFS) from river forecast centers (NERFC and MARFC) is employed to predict long-term reservoir inflow and manage the city’s water reservoirs more effectively, particularly with respect to turbidity prediction. As part of the CIROH HEFS project, a test version of the HEFS has been established to generate hindcasts for sample HEFS testbed locations, with forecast verification conducted using TEEHR. This presentation will detail the process of setting up a virtual machine through JupyterHub, executing the ensemble hindcast, and integrating it with the forecast verification system.
