Learn how to extract and document Flood Inundation Maps from HEC RAS-2D, SRH-2D, and other models in general to a common data structure and visualization tools.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand our proposed data model for storing FIM results from any numerical modeling result
- Learn how to use the community version of the Surface Water Modeling System (SMS) to extract data from numerical models such as HEC RAS-2D and SRH-2D.
- Learn the process of preparing 2D modeling data so that FIM extraction tools being developed can be used to extract results.
- See how results from the data model can be visualized and connected to the NWM forecast
Prerequisites:
- Laptop computer connected to the internet (could share with a partner)
- Installation of SMS Community Version
- Necessary sample data will be available
