Day 3 Session 1 (11:00 AM MDT)

Presenters:

Mohamed Abdelkader
Stevens Institute for Technology

Marouane Temimi
Stevens Institute for Technology

This workshop aims to introduce the users to methods to integrate remote sensing and citizen science data to support the monitoring of hydrological processes. Participants will explore the integration of NASA’s Globe Observations with advanced remote sensing datasets, utilizing cloud-based technologies such as Google Earth Engine, Compute Engine, and Cloud Storage. The session will provide hands-on experience in creating automated systems for uploading, processing, and sharing critical hydrological data, including case studies like the Stevens River Ice Monitoring System. By leveraging these technologies, attendees will learn to streamline the collection, processing, and dissemination of environmental data, fostering greater collaboration and efficiency in hydrological studies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain familiarity with the use and importance of remote sensing and
citizen science data to support hydrological monitoring and applications.
  • Acquire the skills to automate the processing and sharing of remote
sensing and citizen science data using Google Earth Engine, Compute
Engine, and Cloud Storage for hydrological studies.
  • Learn to effectively upload and share hydrological data collections, such
as the Stevens River Ice Monitoring System, promoting open science and
    community collaboration.
