Google AI Modeling Workshop

AI-Powered Streamflow Prediction: Hands-on Workshop with Google Cloud Platform to apply Google’s Flood Forecasting methods for your research

Day 2 Session 2 (1:30 PM MDT)

Presenters:

Kel Markert
Google

This workshop will introduce participants to Google’s Flood Forecasting system and demonstrate how to train and predict streamflow using the open-source methods with Google Cloud services like Earth Engine and Vertex AI. Through hands-on exercises, attendees will gain practical experience in building and applying AI models for streamflow prediction.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the principles behind Google’s Flood Forecasting system and its AI models.
  • Gain practical skills in using Google Earth Engine for accessing and processing geospatial data as inputs to hydrologic modeling.
  • Learn how to build and deploy AI models for streamflow prediction using Vertex AI.
  • Apply the acquired knowledge to develop and customize streamflow forecasting models for specific regions.

Prerequisites:

Knowledge

  • General understanding of hydrologic modeling and AI
  • Experience with Python coding.
  • Experience with using a Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a nice to have but not required
